Welcome to the Picnic Club
There's a version of summer that lives entirely in the details — the blanket you almost didn't bring, the good napkins, the one turquoise thread running through everything even when nothing else matches. That's the idea behind Picnic Club.
Nine prints. Three groups of three. No shared drawn elements — no repeating motif jumping from one print to the next — just a single color that shows up everywhere. A ribbon here, a border there, a background wash somewhere else. You feel the collection hold together before you can explain why. That's turquoise doing its job quietly.
Each group has its own hand, its own technique, its own personality:
The watercolor table — soft, blurred, peony-heavy. The founding mood of the whole collection.
A turn toward cyanotype blue — paisley layered with sun-printing, a cooler and more graphic turn.
The marker set — controlled, linear, closing the collection with a postcard patchwork print that's become the face of the whole project.
Over the next three weeks, I'm opening each group individually — the hero print, the two supporting prints, and the thinking that ties them together. Consider this the invitation. The table's set.
Coming next week: inside the watercolor table.
